With the increasing liberalization of concealed carry weapons (CCW) laws, plastic pocket nines are all the rage. Entire armies of business casual CCW license holders have snapped-up the shrunken shooters, entranced by the micro-nines’ combination of lightweight and lethality. Add in the price and availability advantages of 9mm ammunition compared to .380, and the mass market pocket nines are good to stow. Just ask Ruger, whose LC9 is a runaway best-seller. The tradeoff of course is shootability . . .

Conclusion
Although still considered a newcomer to the weapons market, Kahr Firearms’ impressive collection of compact, subcompact, and mid-size semi-automatic pistols has already given them quite a reputation. The number of concealed handgun permits has soared over 200% in the last decade, with now over 15 million Americans carrying. As a result, there’s been a boom in CCWs in the market, with classic and newcomer companies alike competing to produce the best. Once-small companies, like Kahr, have taken this opportunity and have grown tremendously.

The Kahr MK9 is a semi-automatic small-frame pistol chambered in 9mm. Kahr is one of the premier manufacturers of pistols and has lines for major calibers such as .45, .40, .380 and, of course, 9mm. Kahr also has several lines of small-framed pistols chambered in 9mm and the two most comparable to the MK9 are the P9 and PM9. But what makes it different is its stainless steel slide and frame and wraparound nylon grip. Also, it is the heaviest weighing 1.39 pounds (about a half pound more). Kahr recommends the MK9 for concealed carry.
